West Virginia Chapter Committees

 

Networking/Hospitality

Every great meeting starts with organized details so that attendees can experience a stress free environment and have a memorable and successful experience. This committee works with programming and event committees to ensure time is made for networking and fellowship with other members. For example, icebreakers, friendly face at the door, etc.

Membership

Communicates the list of current members at each business meeting. Contacts each member as they join to make sure they sign up for a committee. Survey membership mid-year to ensure they are getting something out of their membership.

Mentoring

The WiNUP Mentoring Committee is responsible for leading and planning the annual mentoring program. This committee assists mentees in their career development by pairing them with a mentor. It provides the opportunity for networking, practice, and hands on experience.

Newsletter/Historian

This committee is responsible for producing the newsletter as well as organizing and storing all Chapter records. This committee will also maintain a history of past speakers and events, along with any lessons learned and post critiques. This will help in putting together the annual submission for the chapter achievement award.

STEM Outreach

This committee encourages STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education for our next generation of females. The committee works with West Virginia STEM Institute and/or other institutions.

Fundraising

This committee is responsible for organizing fundraising events through the year to support our chapter activities. The goal is to have at least three fundraising projects during the year.

Scholarship/Awards/Chapter Achievement

The committee is focused on promoting scholarships, awards for the chapter and its members at the local level and keeping the membership aware of international awards and scholarships. This committee is also responsible for submitting the chapter achievement application.

Website/Social Media and Technology

The website and technology committee is responsible for updating the website with important and accurate chapter information. This year we are looking to redesign our website to follow International guidelines and move to a new provider.

Community Service

This committee is responsible for organizing a plan for at least two community service projects during the year.

Programming/Professional Development & Special Events

This committee will create the calendar of events for the year ensuring that each of the International objectives is met: Professional Growth, Personal Growth, Industry Related, and Women’s Issues. The committee will contact speakers and work closely with other committees to organize fun and successful events.

Women's International Network of Utility Professionals is a not-for-profit 501 (c) (6) organization under the IRA Code.  Section 501 (c) (6) of the IRS code provides for the exemption of business leagues - which is an association of individuals with a common business interest.  Contributions to WiNUP are not tax deductible as a charitable donation.  Contributions may qualify as a business expense.  Donors should consult a tax professional.
